About this product
This Tamiya 1/48 kit can be built as the standard F4U-1 Corsair with birdcage canopy or as the radar-equipped F4U-2 night fighter. It reproduces the inverted gull wing and includes a detailed engine and cockpit, pilot figure, 1,000 lb bombs, auxiliary tanks and four marking options.
The Vought F4U Corsair
The Corsair's inverted gull wing provided clearance for its large propeller without excessively long landing gear. Powered by a 2,000 hp Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp, the early F4U-1 entered Pacific service in 1943. The F4U-2 added radar near the right wingtip for night fighting.
