The de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito NF Mk.30
The de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito was a British twin-engine aircraft built largely from wood. Developed around a speed-focused concept, it first flew on 25 November 1940.
Its performance and versatile airframe led to bomber, photographic-reconnaissance, fighter, attack, fast-transport and night-fighter versions.
The NF Mk.30 was a late night-fighter variant. It combined the Mosquito’s performance with radar equipment that allowed its crew to locate and intercept enemy aircraft in darkness or poor visibility. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, it served mainly during the final phase of the Second World War.
The name “The Uhu Hunter” refers to operations against German Heinkel He 219 aircraft, known as the “Uhu”, or eagle owl.
