This Special Hobby kit builds a Douglas A-20G Havoc in 1/72 scale, the American twin-engine attack aircraft used in Europe and the Pacific during the Second World War.
Four marking options depict three US aircraft, several with nose art, and one Royal Australian Air Force No. 22 Squadron aircraft. The European option carries invasion stripes and Vargas-inspired pin-up artwork.
The Douglas A-20 was an American twin-engine military aircraft used during the Second World War. Called Havoc by US forces and Boston by several Commonwealth air forces, it served on many fronts in attack and tactical-bombing roles.
The A-20G replaced the glazed bomber nose with a solid nose carrying several forward-firing machine guns. A dorsal turret with twin machine guns protected the rear sector. This configuration was suited to low-level ground attacks alongside its bomb load.
In the Pacific, the A-20G served with American forces and the Royal Australian Air Force. In Europe, it operated from bases in Britain and Italy and later from French airfields following the Allied landings.
Special Hobby is a Czech plastic-model manufacturer offering military and civilian aircraft, including types and versions less commonly covered by other manufacturers.
This A-20G Havoc edition combines an important Allied aircraft with markings from both major theatres of the Second World War.
