This Special Hobby kit recreates the Caproni Ca.312 in 1/72 scale, an Italian twin-engine aircraft developed for export orders.
Based on the brand’s Ca.311 kit, it adds version-specific parts in injected plastic, resin, photo-etch and 3D print. Four marking options cover a Norwegian prototype with streamlined nose and three Italian aircraft with stepped windscreens.
The Caproni Ca.312
The Caproni Ca.312 was an Italian twin-engine military aircraft derived from the Ca.310. More powerful Piaggio P.XVI engines were intended to improve on the earlier model’s performance.
Norway selected the Ca.312 to supplement and replace a previous Ca.310 order. Belgium also placed an order for its colonial air arm. None of the aircraft ordered by either country were delivered before the German invasions of Norway and Belgium in 1940.
The aircraft remaining in Italy were taken over by the Regia Aeronautica and used mainly for transport and liaison duties. This unusual history explains why the kit includes a Norwegian-marked aircraft alongside Italian machines.
